PK Sasidharan, known to his students as PKS, is a Professor of Internal Medicine, and former head of the department of Internal Medicine at Calicut Medical College. He had a brilliant academic background, being the best outgoing student for MBBS from University of Calicut and obtained his post graduate training in internal medicine from PGI Chandigarh and decided to stick onto internal Medicine by choice. He has more than three decades of teaching experience and clinical practice, known as an outstanding teacher who inspired thousands of undergraduate medical
students and post graduate trainees. Besides, he had a unique clinical practice, while working in Calicut Medical College with a 3500-bed hospital, probably the largest in Asia, and heading the internal medicine department with 400 beds and simultaneously looking after the Hematology section, helping countless patients to come out of their vexing problems and simultaneously helping doctors in the periphery to improve their clinical skill. He used to maintain case diaries of interesting case histories of the patients referred to him during the last three decades. In the
background of Covid 19, he realized the need to share some of the valuable information and thoughts based on these case histories in an attempt to save modern medicine.
